“work on yourself and the rest will follow”
“love yourself and the rest will follow”
“once you find yourself life will fall into place”
There’s truth in that it is important to love yourself and it’s important to work on yourself. This is something we do throughout our lifetimes. The issue with this “love yourself and work on yourself and the rest will follow” quote is that it implies a need to totally love yourself and totally have yourself figured out before you can live a quality life.
It’s sending a subconscious message that says, “you can’t live, enjoy life, or be a complete person until you get your shit figured out.”
That’s a heap of trash.
If you aren’t working on yourself throughout your life you’re doing it wrong. Nobody will ever be perfect, but we should always work on ourselves.
If you’re not madly in love with yourself yet that’s totally OK. Loving yourself can take time and is something that can come and go. It’s a lifetime, ongoing process.
Why on earth would you have to have these things figured out before you can live? Your life is already happening. Why wait around trying to get your shit together when you could be embracing the present and having a really quality time of it?
Living, unafraid that life won’t be quality ’til you’re perfect, is what gets you to loving yourself. It is how you work on yourself.
There is no sequence of steps to living a good life.
