When you’re eating chips or veggies with dip are you ever accused of double dipping?
Two friends of mine totally come unhinged if anybody (typically me) ‘allegedly’ double dips. It’s so stupid because here’s the thing. The chip breaks off before it hits my lips and I’m not dipping a slobbery chip or veggie back into the dip. Come ON! It’s perfectly clean. Whatever. Apparently I’m disgusting.
The solution? Dish your dip or salsa into your own container for an individual layered chip dip and ignore your friends.
Actually, individual layered chip dip is a great idea. Set up an ingredients bar, let your friends layer their own, and everyone is happy. And they’re cute.
You might have seen these made in jars, which is adorable, but I made mine (no ingredients bar) in plastic tumblers so they can be tossed instead of washed once they’re empty. The plastic tumblers I used were 9 oz., so that’s a healthy portion of layered dip.
You can layer with bean dip or re-fried beans in place of or with guacamole, add sweet peppers, cilantro, lettuce, onions, lime juice, or anything else you like in your layered dip. A great ingredients bar would have a range of choices besides the basics.
Mine were very basic with guacamole, sour cream, fresh tomatoes mixed with salsa, olives, cheese, and a jalapeno topper.
Layered dip is so good and these were a hit. Remember that Superbowl Sunday is right around the corner, so these will be perfect to have during the game.
