What do you say when your my mom-in-law asks if you want some wooden nesting trays she was going to toss because she hadn’t done anything with them? If you’re like me, you say, “OhmyGOSHyesareyouKIDDINGMe? THANK you!” and inside you squeal, Scooore!
This is what I scored from her. There are just too many things that could be done with these. Oh, the possibilities!
This is what I’d been harboring in my craft closet for just the right project. I didn’t realize until recently how much I actually like butterflies. I have them everywhere. Everywhere. My laptop skin. My phone cover. A messenger bag. Jewelry. Oh, and this blog header . . . right. And all this paper.
This is what I came up with. I didn’t make them all match because I’m not going to leave them nested together. They will be used in different places. One will be near the entry to be used as a temporary place for visitors’ keys, mail going out, things like that. Another will be used upstairs to corral remotes–so many remotes, and the last will be used somewhere else, but I’m not sure where yet.
I started with the unfinished trays:
You can see the distressing pretty well on the blue tray.
This was a very easy project. It reminded me that I have to be really careful when I glue with Mod Podge because I tend to be a little sloppy and it’s permanent. I like these though–they’re a fun addition to our space.
